Adult Life Classes

Wednesday Evening Life Classes are small groups that meet to study practical topics for every day living. Classes are held Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm.

Wednesday Family Meal – Wednesday’s at 5:15 PM
$5 per person or $20 per family

Encounter the Church – Pastor Joe Worley, Room 205

The purpose of this class is to show new members, prospective members and visitors to the life, workings and beliefs of FBC Groves. This class will acquaint participants in the overall ministry and biblical purpose of the church as well as getting to know Pastor Joe. Encounter the Church is essential for church membership.

Marriage on the Rock – Charles and Clarice Miller, Parlor 

Whether engaged or married, you’ll find that God’s principles detailed in Marriage on the Rock will help you prepare for marriage or strengthen a good marriage. You’ll also discover how to turn what may be a disillusioned, divorce-bound marriage into a satisfying dream relationship.

All Things New – Deanne Henry, Room C3 Heritage Hall 

Over 8 sessions, Kelly Minter will lead you through the Letter of 2 Corinthians, exploring the anchoring truths of bearing treasures in jars of clay, meeting Christ through a pressing thorn, opening wide your heart in the midst of hurtful relationships, and what it means to embrace the lost and lonely as ministers of the new covenant. Each of us has a message to proclaim and live by: Because of Jesus the old has gone, the new has come.

Will God Give a Stone? – Leo Hebert, Room 206

Join Leo as he searches scripture to discover God’s faithfulness throughout history and how His faithfulness should lead us to be faithful to Him. Leo will discuss what faith is and what faith is NOT! “…what man is there among you who, if your son would ask for bread, would give him a stone?” Matthew 7:9

Daniel – Susan Daigle, Monday night Home Bible Study

Join Beth Moore in a faith-building study of prophecy and learn how to live with integrity in today’s self-absorbed society. The prophet Daniel faced unbelievable pressures to compromise his faith, to live in a hostile culture, and to confront temptations and threats. Today, believers in Jesus Christ face many of the same trials. Learn how to stand in the face of trials and temptations.

Ladies Bible Book Study – Lori Carl, Room 203

1st Chronicles was written to emphasize the blessings of the righteous kings and to expose the sins of the wicked kings. It parallels some parts of 1st and 2nd Kings. Like 1st Chronicles, it is written from the viewpoint of a priest who spoke from spiritual perspectives, including revivals. It was also written after the exile and focuses on correct worship to YHWH.

Intercessory Prayer – Prayer Warriors, Prayer Chapel

The prayer warriors will host a time of prayer for our church, staff, prayer needs of members and anyone who desires someone to pray of them. Open to anyone. “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”. (James 5:16, in part)

Asian International Ministry – Cliff Rees, Assembly C Heritage Hall

For this semester, AIM will lead a study for new believers in Christ called “New Life” by  Vincent Sawyer. “New Life” is an 8 session study that will take new believers on a journey from a “babe” in Christ, to what it means to be a disciple of Christ, to telling others about Christ. The class is open to anyone who wants to understand more what it means to be a believer in Christ.

La Iglesia Hispanic Ministry – Pastor Alfredo Ballesta, Assembly A Heritage Hall

Persecution That Leads To Glory – Leo Hebert, Room 206

A study of 1 Peter In Peter’s first letter to the “scattered” first century churches, he addressed several issues. But the main emphasis is for explanation and encouragement in the “fiery trials”. Peter views the suffering of Christians through the agonies of Jesus, and recognizes both divine purpose in, and ones proper response to, Christian suffering in the light of the atonement of Christ. A study of First Peter will teach learners a “persecution that leads to Glory”.

Ladies Bible Study – Lori Carl, Room 202

A study of 1 Chronicles. 1 Chronicles was written to the returned remnant who were rebuilding Jerusalem following their seventy-year Babylonian captivity. This religious history depicts the faithfulness and promises of God to His people, the power of the Word of God, and the central role of worship in the lives of God’s people.

Celebrate Recovery – John Ramsey, B1 & B2 Heritage Hall

Small Group Time Celebrate recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process.

The Daniel Plan – John Bigelow, Room 204

The Daniel Plan is far more than a diet plan. It is an appetizing approach to achieving a healthy lifestyle where people are encouraged to get healthier together by optimizing the key five essentials of faith, food, fitness, focus and friends. Join John Bigelow on a journey to physical and spiritual health.

Sonshine Choir – Guy Burnaman, Sanctuary

This a great opportunity for Senior Adults to praise God through song, service, fellowship and worship. There are special events planned for the year.
